Roses

I created the ROSES series of acrylic paintings in early 2023, shortly before my 94th birthday. I had recently created several series of paintings of flowers, such as SUNFLOWERS and LOTUSES and LILIES, and I was in the mood to continue painting flowers. I chose to paint a rose because of its beauty, and although I did not try to mimic the natural colors of roses in my paintings, I felt that I could express the beauty of roses by employing the ancient art of stenciling and by using bright colors.
